You can't reserve the test by email or otherwise. You must not take your exam in another location; only certified test centres that are registered with the government are permitted to do so.
How do I book a test?
You can only book your test online at: https://www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test
The earliest you can take a test is 7 days after the date of your reservation.
Where is the location of the test?
You can only take the test at a registered and authorised Life in the UK test centre. Over 30 testing centres exist in the UK. You will receive information about your nearest testing location when you reserve.
How much will the test cost, and how do I pay for it?
The procedure costs £50. You must pay for this online with a debit or credit card if you register for your test. The trial isn't the entire process.
Is it necessary to bring any documentation to the testing centre?
You must bring a photograph of your identification (ID) with you to the testing centre in order to demonstrate it to the testing supervisor. You will not be permitted to take the test without having your photo taken.
You must bring one of the following forms of ID:
- a passport from your country of origin
- a UK photocard driving licence, full or provisional
- one of the following Home Office travel documents:
- a Convention Travel Document (CTD)
- a Certificate of Identity Document (CID)
- a Stateless Person Document (SPD)
- a European Union (EU) identity card
- an Immigration Status Document, endorsed with a UK residence permit and bearing a photo of the holder (which must be together on the same document)
- a biometric residence permit.
You will also need to bring proof of your postcode. This should be an original (not a photocopy) of one of the following documents:
- Gas, electricity or water bill
- Council Tax bill
- Bank or credit card statement
- UK photocard driving licence (this can also be used as photographic ID)
- A letter from the Home Office with your name and address on it.
The documents you can use may change in the future. You should check the GOV.UK website for up-to-date information at: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration
What facilities are there for people with disabilities?
You will be asked about your needs when you book your test. The test centre will make the necessary arrangements to give you the support you need so you can complete the test.
