Mandatory test and requirements

The "Hidden" Mandatory Costs - Required for almost everyone aged 18-65.

  • Life in the UK test - £50.00
  • English Language test - £150/£190 - depended on the place

Other potential payments

  • Biometric Appointment - up to £200
  • Document Translation - up to £150 (depending on the documents, birth certificate, marriage, etc.)
  • British Passport - £88.50

If you need to take both tests, the true cost to become a citizen is approximately: £1,955 per person (£1,754 fees + £50 Life in UK + ~£150 English Test).

The total cost of a citizenship application can be up to: £2413.50 

Fees for Children (Under 18)

Children apply for "Registration" rather than Naturalisation, which is slightly cheaper and has no ceremony fee.
