Taking the Life in the UK test

This website will help you prepare for the "General Knowledge of British Life" exam. The exam contains 24 questions covering key aspects of life in the UK. The questions are related to the content of this website, but you do not need to remember any birth or death dates. Each candidate will encounter 24 different questions during the exam.

The Life in the UK test is usually conducted in English. However, Welsh or Scottish Gaelic tests are also available if needed.
You can only take the test at a registered and accredited Life in the UK test centre. There are over 30 test centres in the UK. You can only book your test online at www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test. Do not take the test at any other location, as the Home Office only accepts certificates issued by registered test centres. Residents of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands have separate regulations for taking the Life in the UK test.

When booking your test, please read the instructions carefully. Ensure you fill in your personal information correctly. Please bring proof of identity and proof of address to the test. You will not be able to take the test without these documents.
